Your amazingness leaves us in volun-tears!
Without our volunteers, Community Supported Shelters could not provide its current high level of service to unhoused people in our community. Our volunteers have built Huts, prepared meals, helped out with fundraising events, and more!
Current Volunteers
We appreciate all you do! Without you, we couldn’t run our programs as smoothly or give as much back to the community. Your volunteer time is indisputably invaluable, and logging your volunteer hours helps us better articulate community impact and earn grant funding.

Volunteer Positions
Access Center
Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30PM
Five days a week, CSS provides a clean, safe, and friendly space for clients and those on our waitlist to shower, do laundry and/or get clean clothes.
Volunteers support staff by assisting with organizing the clothing closet, sanitizing the showers, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Full and partial shifts are available.
Front Office Volunteer
Tuesday-Friday, 1-4:00PM
The front office is where unhoused folks access and apply for CSS programs and services.
In the winter, it is a wood-heated space of welcome; in the summer, a place of respite from the heat. Volunteers support visitors to the front office by offering water, snacks, personal hygiene items, a listening ear, and whatever forms of immediate assistance we can provide.
Hut Crew Volunteer
Tuesdays, 8:30-10:30AM
Every week, our Hut Crew volunteers work as a team to plan, construct, and refurbish our Conestoga Huts and other building needs. They work in our shop and occasionally in our Safe Spot communities. Power tools are used, and safety training will be provided.
Community Connections Team
Join a team of staff and volunteers who organize events, table at local festivals, conduct fundraising nights, and work together to connect with our community, donors, and local businesses.
This team meets monthly for planning and sharing of ideas.
Weekly Work Party
Thursdays, 9AM-1:00PM
Join staff and clients in our 14 Safe Spot Communities to do needed tasks on a rotating basis. This includes cleaning, maintenance, seasonal landscaping, and more. Lunch is provided. Full and partial shifts are available.
This is a great option for groups or those who can come occasionally. Weekly attendance is not required.
Professional Skills
Do you have a professional skill you want to share with CSS? This could include being a barber, dog trainer, artist, electrician, musician, sewing, and more.
Not sure if it is something we need? Contact us with your idea!
